I have never lived in a place where I had to take an elevator to get to my home. I have dogs but they have always had free reign of the backyard, to run around and do their business. I don't have to take them out for walks or to potty. When you live in an apartment building you do have to do things like that for your animal. However, it is always a good idea to make sure your dog is in the elevator with you before you hit the buttons or you could have something like this happen.
