How much does the new Ghostbusters need to make if it wants to be a bonafide, genuine hit? The opening weekend for director Paul Feig’s reboot of the beloved franchise raises more questions than answers and the second and third weekend will ultimately prove more telling. However, here’s what we can say right now: it opened with solid numbers in second place behind last week’s massive champion, The Secret Life of Pets.

Last year, Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak was denied release in Chinese theaters thanks to an old provision in the country’s censorship code, which bans films that feature cults and superstitious elements. It looks like a similar fate has befallen Ghostbusters, as Paul Feig’s reboot will not be hitting theaters in the world’s second largest film market. But it might not entirely be about that whole ghost thing.

Since I was a kid, nary a day has gone by that the dream of being an actual, for real Ghostbuster hasn't crossed my mind. Growing up with the franchise, my household was a treasure trove of almost all the Ghostbusters goods you could imagine. Never got that Firehouse playset, but I did have that sweet role-play proton pack, trap and Ecto goggles. I don't quite fit into those anymore though, so it's a little hard for me to pretend without investing the time and effort into building my own proton back and kit as a number of similarly aged Ghostbusters fans have already done. Until now, that was pretty much the only way to indulge the fantasy. Then The Void came along with its new hyper reality experience. Teaming with Sony and Madame Tussaud's, The Void opened up Ghostbusters Dimensions as part of the new Ghostbusters Experience at the Times Square location of the wax museum franchise. While virtual reality is breaking through in a large way this year, Void ramps things up by completely immersing you in not just a visual experience, but a completely interactive one. Once you suit up with your headset, backpack and blaster, you are in the world of the Ghostbusters, and it's up to you to explore the space and eliminate the spectral menaces inside. All those hours of running around my neighborhood blasting phantoms was finally going to pay off.

As you probably recall, the trailer for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters became the most-disliked movie trailer in YouTube history thanks to a certain contingency of very vocal fans of Ivan Reitman’s original film. It would appear that those fans are at it again, this time taking to IMDb, where they’re spamming the ratings for Feig’s reboot to ensure it has a low user score. Unsurprisingly, the majority of voters are men between the ages of 18 and 44. And while the exact point of this little exercise in anti-Ghostbusters activism is unclear, what is apparent is that these guys aren’t letting this whole thing go anytime soon.

I have a dream job. What could be better than watching and talking about movies for a living? Nothing; the answer is nothing. But lately my job has been a lot less fun than normal, because the movies themselves have been a lot less fun. Quite frankly, this summer sucks.

Jones tweeted that very few — if any — designers were willing to style a look for the 'Ghostbusters' premiere.

Yes, yes, our old pal Stay Puft the giant marshmallow man is back in these new TV spots for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, but the real delight here is watching Melissa McCarthy fire her proton pack at the crotch of a huge, sinister version of the iconic logo. “How do you like that?!” she shouts, and I think the only response is, "Very much, please continue."

Following their delightful appearance with the original Ghostbusters cast on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the ladies of Paul Feig’s reboot — along with their dopey receptionist — have assembled in a brand new poster. And if that’s not enough for you, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy each have their very own featurette, offering a proper intro to their respective characters along with a little dose of new footage.

We’ve seen a lot of trailers for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, some controversial and some pretty great. But the latest one shows more of the ghosts the new crew will be busting.

Ghostbusters is returning to the big screen for two days only.   That means you can see the movie that proved we "ain't afraid of no ghosts."  The original is coming back to your favorite theater and it's time to see it again before the reboot hits theaters in July.  So grab your proton packs and join us.

It’s become impossible to talk about Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters without acknowledging the unsavory reactions from fans of the original who have declared the reboot cinema non grata (to say the least). It’s also been suggested that perhaps some words of support from the original cast members might help soothe the aggressive fanbase, that if their so-called childhood heroes give Feig’s film the stamp of approval (as if their willingness to cameo in the film wasn’t endorsement enough), maybe the anti-reboot fan contingent would settle down and come to accept a crew of female Ghostbusters. That’s not the case, as OG Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd shared his positive thoughts on Feig’s reboot, inspiring a slew of predictably angry reactions.

Oh, a new Ghostbusters trailer! I am sure this will be met warmly, with a calm and measured reception!
