The summer slump has hit for a lot of organizations in Amarillo. People are not on schedules, lots of families are taking vacations, and therefore saving every dime for their vacations. During the summer giving slows way down.

Every single day in Amarillo and in our Texas Panhandle Community a person or a family goes hungry. They don't know where their next meal will come from. It's a scary thought that 1 in 7 people here in the Texas Panhandle are food insecure.

What do you get when you combine Dr. Seuss and some fish? One would think one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish, but not so much. This time you get an evening of fun helping out a wonderful organization.

Let's face it, we are proud to be Texans and we step up when it comes to taking care of our neighbors in need.

It's that time of year and the High Plains Food Bank is getting ready for their annual Together We Can Food Drive. It's the perfect time to help feed the hungry in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle.

Food insecurity is a real thing, especially here in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle.  One in 7 people locally are food insecure.  These are people who go to work everyday and work hard, but they just don't make enough money.  These people make the hard decisions whether to put food on the table or pay a utility bill.  Buy food or pay for a prescription.  Coming up this Saturday you can help with

Join the High Plains Food Bank and their Kid's Cafe as they kick off their summer meals program with a big party.

The Golden Spread Council of the Boy Scouts take part in an event each March to help out the High Plains Food Bank.  The event is called Scouting for Food.   They need your help to make this happen.

Who doesn't love a good food fight?  When was the last time you were in a food fight?  Here's your chance to get into a food fight this week with the Junior League of Amarillo.
