'Identity Thief' has been in theaters for less than two weeks and it's already grossed $76 million at the box office, an enormous amount for a modestly budgeted comedy with a known but untested leading lady. Although critics haven't been as kind as audiences, $100 million is a sure thing at this point and we wouldn't rule out $150 million if March is kind to it. So of course Universal has already thought about an 'Identity Thief 2.' They probably thought about it two weeks ago.
Making comedy about a man whose credit line is ruined and is about to go to court for debt because of identity theft seems difficult. It's a nightmare scenario for anyone who's suffered it before. Hopefully Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy are enough to make 'Identity Thief' entertaining, and now we've got a trailer for the film.
Jason Bateman is one of the greatest actors of this century and he has been sucked into the Bieber Fever. Apparently, he took his wife and 4-year old daughter to "Never Say Never," and to quote him "About midway through the movie, I'm bawling like a little schoolgirl." See what else Jason has to say about the Biebs on "Live Regis and Kelly."
