I love homecoming videos.  They never fail to fill my heart with love and my eyes with tears.  This video did the same thing only with a superhero twist.

We’ve all seen the heartwarming videos of soldiers stationed overseas surprising their children stateside with early returns home. And that’s how this video of Capt. Cherissa Jackson, who had been deployed in Afghanistan, begins, with mom surprising her daughters Anita and Ashley at a Gaitherburg, Maryland Kentucky Fried Chicken. But then it gets even more touching.

A recent survey conducted by Military Times Edge ranks which colleges are best for military veterans. Most of the schools making the list were public, including 51 of the 59 highest ranking four-year schools. The top five four-year schools included Concord University, taking the number one spot, Eastern Kentucky University at number two, Rutgers in third, California University of Pennsylvania

New England Patriots running back Eric Kettani isn’t just a football player — he’s also a member of the United States Navy. But now it seems service to his country is trumping service on the gridiron. Kettani, who spent two years on the reserve list as an active military member and made the Patriots practice squad this preseason, returned Friday to his Navy ship in Jacksonville, Florida.

We admit it. These things make us misty. Army Specialist Matthew Peters of Owensville, Missouri spent a year deployed in Kuwait and Iraq, and hadn’t seen his young son, Blake, in more than six months. When he came home, he decided to pop in on the unsuspecting tyke at school for a hug the kid will probably never forget.
