Some days I wonder why they all still call me Mom.  Why haven’t they all run away yet?  Some days I think I have lost my mind, and those are the good days.  The bad days I know I have lost my mind.   I have six kids, a husband in a band, a family that calling dysfunctional is an understatement.  My life is really crazy, but yet people tell me I am a good mom.  Are you kidding me??

Multiple roles are sometimes difficult to juggle, but it is something that most moms today are very familiar with.  Mom, wife, girlfriend, daughter, sister, co-worker, employee, boss, student, friend, so much to do, so many people to please, and so little time!

You know how in the haste of of the hustle and bustle of life, you sometimes look for opportunities to just kind of skate by on a task? Well that one came back to bite me this week.

I am a part of a dinner club.  The kind where we barely come up with a theme and no one dresses up for the night.  The kind where the moms and non moms come together and relax and try their hardest to laugh at the lives we lead.  Which we have found out isn’t too hard to achieve.

For many of us, there is rarely a dull moment in motherhood. The currently popular “zombie craze” only adds to the madness for me. Like many children with autism, my son gets “stuck” on things that he likes.

My husband has been off work all week.  This is a rare treat, you see, because even though the man has plenty of vacation time to burn, he either needs a major holiday or the typhoid fever to convince him to take some time off. Fortunately, circumstances beyond his control required a week off.

Now that the year has been going for over a month, I wonder where the state of resolutions are now for the majority of people.  I usually don’t make them.  I guess I am too lazy, but I also don’t see the New Year as much different as the last year.  Again, I am lazy on this issue, but this year, or last year, I decided to do it.  I was going to make a resolution.

I am a writer. And today I have writer's block. As you might imagine, that happens from time to time. I've learned over the years, when my brain freezes up and I can't think of an idea or a topic or even a simple line to get me going, it's best to just start writing what I'm thinking... even if it's not what I intended, or even wanted, to write about.

With Valentine’s Day approaching,  I always think in my mind what I would like to happen.  I think most women do.  We have been trained by our moms, friends, V Day cards, magazines, commercials and movies to all think what real romance is.

Every new parent has an idealistic view of what their child will one day become: a doctor, a lawyer, a star athlete.  We picture our children growing up and having careers, getting married, and having children of their own. The day that I sat in the pediatric specialist’s office with my son (then 2 ½) and heard the word Autism, all of those goals and dreams for my child flooded my mind.
