The 2013 MTV Movie Awards winners, though by no means as hyped as, say, the 2013 Oscars, are a fun affair nonetheless. Yesterday brought the bizarre and tragic news that 21 year-old 'Buckwild' star Shain Gandee had been found dead after 31 hours missing, along with his uncle and a third unidentified male inside an off-road truck. The truck's position within the muddy woods initially made the bodies difficult to retrieve, but the circumstance and autopsy results have conclusively revealed the three died of carbon monoxide poisoning, says the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

MTV launched August 1, 1981 at 12:01am with The Buggles and Video Killed the Radio Star (I know that date and time because the debut of MTV was one of the things that was beat into my head other than my social security number during college).

I remember the show so vividly, but not so much the show is what I remember but what the show did to adolescent boys. What I remember is my 15 year old friend taking his shirt to where it was covering his head and his face was just sticking out the hole and saying, "I am the great Cornholio, I need T.P. for my..." I don't think I'm ready for this or another generation of boys doing the exact same thing.
