The Amarillo Zoo originally opened in Amarillo in 1955.  The original name of the zoo was Storyland Zoo.  Since 1955 the Amarillo Zoo has grown into what it is today.   Coming up on Saturday, May 16th, the Amarillo Zoo will be celebrating in a big way.

Happy Birthday to the Amarillo Zoo!

WHEN:Saturday, May 16th 6-8p,

WHERE: Amarillo Zoo - Thompson Park at NE 24th Ave and Dumas Highway

The entire family will get to enjoy special presentations throughout the Zoo plus special activities.

You will be able to take a walk down memory lane to 1955.

Admission: Free

Enjoy .25 cent hotdogs.  Belmar Bakery will be serving up cake in honor of the Zoo's birthday while supplies last.

Live music from the Andy Chase Cundiff Band.

Don't miss your chance to talk with the zoo keepers, you can learn about your favorite animals, and enjoy a wildlife show.  Plus, check out the Zoo's newest animals, the African Crested Porcupines!
