Ethan, my four year old and I were listening to the Christmas Music on Mix 94.1 yesterday. We were singing, dancing and having a good time. Then his favorite Christmas Song of all time came on, and he went crazy. That's when I got the idea to sit down with him and come up with our 5 favorite Christmas Songs and here's that list. I hope you find some of your favorites on this list, if not I would love for you to share you and your child's favorite.

    Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

    Dean Martin

I taught Ethan all the extra things that go into the song, like "like a lightbulb," "like Pinnochio," "like Monopoly." We always giggle and laugh when we sing this song together. It doesn't matter what version of Rudolph they are all fun, but I'm particular to Dean Martin.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

    Fred Astaire

I was walking down the hallway of the house the other day and was singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Ethan ran up to me, "WHAT? Santa's coming to town, I need to get my list ready." Then he walked away singing the song. Yesterday, I heard him singing it when he was brushing his teeth. He loves this song! I love this song! Plus this version is a classic and I'm a sucker for classic Christmas music and Christmas shows. I kinda got Ethan hooked on those as well.

Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer

    Elmo and Patsy

I think this one is a given, because to a four year old or an any year old it is funny. Ethan hears this and just starts his hilarious laugh to the point, he stops laughing takes a deep breath, "Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer, (bwahahahah) that's hilarious momma." Let just say when my child laughs like that and uses the term, that's hilarious, it cracks me up and makes me love him more than I did yesterday and I dont' think that is possible.

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

    Gayla Peevey

I LOVE this song, this and Breath of Heaven are my favorite Christmas songs. I love this song that the love for the song rubbed off on Ethan. A couple of years ago, I bought my hippopotamus easy button. It's a button and when you push it, it lights up and plays I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. He got a hold of it and would push that button over and over again. Even after Christmas he kept it in his room. It's a fun song and he loves it and I love it! However, he won't allow me to put it as number one on the list because he has a Christmas Song he loves even more that this.

    The Chipmunk Song

    The Chipmunks

You cannot argue with a four year old when it comes to his favorite Christmas Song, plus can you really go wrong with the Chipmunks. The Chipmunks have been around for years in fact they have been around since this song was first released and they are still prevalent in today's times. The Chipmunks were my favorite in the 80's and my son loves them today. It's nostalgic and he'll look back when he's a dad and hopefully get to share these lovable adorable creatures with his children.
