Get ready for a great time as the Don Harrington Discovery Center is getting ready to open two new exhibits.  The Discovery Center is such a fun place to visit and they are always changing things up so you get to experience new science and fun each time you visit.  So start making plans to take the family to the Discovery Center because they are unveiling new exhibits this week.

Goose Bumps!: The Science of Fear

What is fear?  It is one emotion that none of us like to feel because in all honest fear makes us feel helpless.  With this new exhibit, you will be able to learn about and understand the different types of fear.  Now this isn't a scary exhibit, because who wants to feel fear.  They make it fun and safe and yes they might put you in a scary environment.  Experience the Fear Challenge Course, make a movie about fear and society.  You can show the different types of fear with facial expressions.  You'll have the opportunity to become and animal of prey, experience the Fear Lab and more.  Plus, not only will you learn about the different types of fear, you'll learn how to deal with fear as well.

Beyond the X-Ray

X-Rays are fascinating, they let you see the inside of your body and your bones.  However, there is more to explore.  You and the family will get to learn about medical imaging and how doctors can look inside the body with out having to do surgery.  You have a hands on experience and will be able to travel through different body parts including the brain and heart.    You'll have a chance to diagnose just by looking at x-rays and you'll have a chance to identify hidden objects in x-rays.

You never know this exhibit may encourage your child to become an x-ray technician or even a doctor.

The new exhibits open on Saturday, October 3rd.
