Now I know we are just to the first day of July, but let's face it, the new school year will be here in the blink of an eye.  That's why the Salvation Army of Amarillo is being proactive and starting their school supply drive.

It's crazy to know that when the school season rolls around, you will find so many children in our area who don't have school supplies because their families cannot afford to buy them.   Last year the Salvation Army was able to help over 400 children with their school supplies and they want to help more this year.  Not only were they able to provide them with their school supplies they helped with a new pair of shoes and socks.

They have kicked off their back to school drive and they are asking for the following items:

Glue
Scissors
Crayons
Glue Sticks
Map Pencils
Pencils
Pencil Boxes
Pens (Red/Blue/Black)
Notebooks (Wide Rule)
Highlighters
Markers
4/5 Pocket Folders
Flash drives
Wide Rule Paper (200 count)
Composition Books
Backpacks

You can drop off school supplies at the following areas through July 31st.

Hours may vary by location:

  • Applebee’s - 5630 W. Amarillo Blvd.
