As I have mentioned before I love to read!  I have read Stephen King's "The Stand" several times. It is one of those books that I call a page turner, you just cannot put it down.  The first time I read the book was in the 90's.  Then in 1994 "The Stand" was made into a mini-series on ABC.It starred Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, Rob Lowe and many others.  I loved this movie.  I thought they did a great job taking it to the mini screen.  Even today I will sit and watch the full 6-hours when I catch it on T.V.

Well apparently "The Stand" is going Hollywood.

STEPHEN KING'S post-apocalyptic novel "The Stand" is heading to the big screen.

It's a pretty long story, so one 90-minute movie probably can't do it justice. Right now, the suits are trying to figure out whether to make several movies or one long one.

The book was originally published in 1978. King re-released it in 1990 with several additions and revisions.

"The Stand" is a good vs. evil-type story, taking place after a virus wipes out most of the American population. In the end, it comes down to a group of survivors fighting an Antichrist-like figure named Randall Flagg.

Have you read "The Stand"?  Did you see the original mini-series?  What do you think about Hollywood taking the book and turning into a movie?
