There was a study done recently about how to avoid putting on the weight in time for the New Year.

One group in the study was told to be mindful of their weight and given some tips to avoid the weight gain.

The tips actually helped the group lose weight over the holiday season. If you too want to avoid the weight gain these next few weeks....these tips may help you too.

You need to try to eat your meals around the same time every day. This will help your body adjust.

Also when possible, use reduced fat foods and try to avoid that butter. I know it is good but it just adds on the pounds.

Always shoot for the goal of 10,000 steps per day. That equates to about 60 or 90 minutes of moderate exercise. I know that could seem like a daunting task but if you get up and move around a bit every hour you will see those steps add up.

Make sure you choose healthy snacks such as fruit and yogurt. Try to make those choices easier than candy and chips. Keep the healthy stuff on hand and in reach.

It always helps if you read food labels carefully. That in itself can seem tricky but make sure you check the fat and sugar content of everything you eat.

When you are making your plate at meal time don't be afraid to heap those veggies on your plate. Just be mindful not to heap the other stuff as well. Think twice about having seconds unless it is of the vegetables.

If you find yourself sitting a lot at work me more observant of that. Try to stand for at least 10 minutes every hour throughout the day.

I know this tip will seem obvious but water! Drink more of it! Reduce the alcohol and soda. Shoot for drinking water throughout the day. You will see many benefits from it. Including better skin and weight loss.

Studies have shown that you eat better and less calories if you eat at the table and not in front of the television. TV eating tends to hurt us in that we eat more and just mindlessly.

Eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day is definitely a goal for you to shoot for.

Looking over this list it doesn't really seem that tough. It is all stuff we can do. It will make weight loss throughout the year much easier to obtain. So print this list off and have a goal to shoot for.
