On Saturday, Amarillo Police were called to a home on the 2700 block of Magnolia after a man was witnessed in the yard with a gun yelling.   On arrival the officers found that a 41 year-old  female had suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and her lower leg.  The officers then located a 6-year old boy across the street that had suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg.  Both the female and the child lived in the house.

Witnesses heard shots and then saw both gunshot victims in the front of the home.  The male resident of the home came out yelling threats at the witnesses.  He then got into a gray Buick and left the scene.

The officers determined that suspect and female had been involved in a domestic dispute when the suspect shot the woman while she was sitting down.  He continued to fire shots as she tried to take the child out of the home.

Officers later spotted the Buick on NW 24th and stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect, Rondell Takare Jones, black male, 34.  A handgun was recovered from the car.  It was determined that the 9mm weapon was listed as stolen.

Jones was booked into the Potter County Detention center on two charges, aggravated assault on a family member causing serious bodily injury.

The female and child were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Early this morning, officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of South Buchanan on another shooting.  A 38-year old Hispanic male, tried to shoot a 36-year old Hispanic female.  A 7-year old was shot in the leg. Two older children were also in the home and were not injured.

The suspect fled the scene in a Dodge Ram pickup and at this time has not been apprehended.  Officers know the identity of the suspect.

Later officers learned that the 7-year old had been shot while laying in bed with his mother.  One of the older children heard the shot and entered the room and wrestled the gun from the suspect and threw it outside.

The boy was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The police are still searching for the suspect and it has been determined a domestic violence incident.
