Warrant Round Up in Amarillo – UPDATED

If you have a warrant out through the City of Amarillo Municipal Court, it is time to take care of it, or you could find yourself in a pair of handcuffs.  The Texas State Warrant Round Up kicks off today.

If you do have an outstanding warrant through the Amarillo Municipal Court you will receive a notice postcard in the mail.  If you receive one of these postcards you need to go by the Amarillo Municipal Court and clear it up.  If you don't then the Amarillo Police Department will start serving warrants on Monday, March 9th.  They will come to your home, place of employment or where you can be found.

According to Victoria Medley, the City of Amarillo Municipal Court Administrator, there are 35,070 Municipal Court warrants that are outstanding.  During Warrant Round Up last year, 3565 of those warrants were cleared.

If you do have a warrant, then you can stop by the Municipal Court to take care of it.  They are open Monday - Friday, 8a-5p.  The court remains open until 7pm on Thursdays.

If your warrant is for a traffic citation, then you can pay that fine online, if it is for something different you will need to pay at the court.

Please be aware that several scams have been reported in other areas of Texas where people are posing as police, court, or city employees and are contacting people with outstanding warrants to receive payment over the phone.  By doing this they are scamming people out of their bank, credit card and other financial information.  Please note that the City of Amarillo or the Amarillo Police Department will not ever ask you for your financial information over the phone.  They do not take payment arrangements or allow you to pay ticket or warrant charges by phone.  If you receive a phone call like this, just hang up the phone.
