That title might be a bit misleading.  We have an elf.  We just don't have an Elf on the Shelf.

A few years ago when E. was still a toddler, the popularity of the Elf on the Shelf was growing.  I thought that's a great idea.  An elf that visits each year from the North Pole.  He doesn't talk and you can't touch him, and he reports back to Santa.  I loved that idea.

However, I didn't like the actual Elf on the Shelf.  He reminded me of an old creepy doll.  My grandmother used to have these dolls with these crazy plastic faces.  They creeped me out.

Maybe it is just me personally or it is doll trauma from my childhood. Maybe it was the price tag on an actual Elf on the Shelf. Seriously they are silly expensive. I just couldn't get force myself to buy one. So I decided to do something different.

Like I said we have an elf. His name is Mr. Elf. He shows up from the North Pole after Thanksgiving. He moves around and he even gets into mischief. He reports back to Santa each night. However, he is sweet and cute. You want to hug him, but don't because you don't want the magic to go away.

He's not a creepy elf.

E. loves his Mr. Elf. He is excited each morning to see what Mr. Elf is up to. This morning Mr. Elf had found the Nutcrackers and they were all hanging out, cutting up and having a great 'ol time.

No matter what elf you have in your house, they still bring joy to the kids, and they bring you a child that behaves a bit more. I mean the elf does report back to Santa.
