Yoko Ono Tweets a Photo of John Lennon’s Bloody Glasses to Call for Gun Control [PHOTO]

Yesterday, March 20, would have been the 44th wedding anniversary of Yoko Ono and John Lennon — had he not been shot and killed in 1980 by a lunatic fan.
(Like Paul McCartney, we refuse to mention Lennon’s killer by name.)
In commemoration of her fallen husband, the now 80-year-old Ono tweeted a photo of his bloodied glasses (which originally appeared on the cover of her 1981 album ‘Season of Glass’) along with a statistic about gun violence to bring attention to the problem.
Yoko tweeted the picture four different times throughout the day with different messages, statistics and even a heartbreaking reminder that after 33 years, she and her son Sean still miss John every day.
While we applaud her motives here, we were taken aback by the violent, stark imagery of the late Lennon’s glasses — the same ones many are saying he was actually wearing when he was gunned down. But that’s probably the point.

Ono also posted a link to several photos of her and Lennon’s 1969 wedding, after which they spent their honeymoon in Amsterdam campaigning for peace.
