Gunner grew up in Chicago and left at age 20 to travel the country and work on-air. He's lived all over the place and is now happy to be planted and staying put. When he's not waking up early and hanging out with Gwen on the Lonestar 92.3 Morning Show and playing your favorite country songs, you'll find him in the office working behind the scenes... He is also Brand Manager for Lonestar 92.3 and our sister station, 99.9 KBAT. He's excited to be here and he and his wife Vicki are looking forward to exploring West Texas and taking it all in... playing mini golf, going to movies, or grilling on the patio with the radio on.

It’s Texas Energy Savings Day! But What Does That Really Mean?
So--when I first saw that this was something coming up in September a few weeks back-my initial thought without really looking into what that name meant was--all of us in Texas are being asked to cut back / conserve energy today. Perhaps even as a way to ease the burden on the shaky power grid here for even just one day. It's not unheard of-we had two things similar to this in Chicago- one called "Lights Out" where every day after 11pm, all the buildings downtown would turn all their lights off so that migrating birds wouldn't fly into buildings; and the annual observation of "Earth Hour"-where lights / power are turned off for an hour city-wide for conservation purposes. So the idea wasn't completely foreign to me.
Getting to 100 Degrees–Is It A Badge Of Honor In Texas?
I've seen several articles now written about the entire state of Texas not being as warm this year as in years past-with statistics being thrown out there about cities all across the state that are usually in the 100's for numerous days by now only seeing one or two days with temps that high so far. Here in the Midland-Odessa area we hit 100 yesterday for the first time since June and BOOM there were the articles mentioning the accomplishment as if it's a badge of honor. Which is a little confusing to this boy from the Midwest because I'm not used to consistent temps that high--but more importantly I've spoken to a lot of people who are from the area who love it because of all the rain we've been getting. So IS it a badge of honor for the natives? I have to say--I could do without all the bugs and if the hotter temps are what slows that down like last year--I say BRING IT BACK MOTHER NATURE! Comment below and tell us--are you loving the cooler weather and the rain or are you longing for the West Texas usual?
