Back In the Day

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with the location. It just seems different.

Every trip to WTAMU's campus is a walk back in time for me. I can't see it as anything but it was my home for 4 years, where I met my wife and most of the best friends of my life.

'Tis the season for all things pumpkins. It's in food, perfume, and deodorant. The pumpkin itself gets it throat cut, guts removed, and stays in a window. Was there an actual person named "Jack" and why do we slash pumpkins in his honor?

It's fun to see how Amarillo has grown and changed over several decades.

There were nine people, including me, that made up the Class of '75 at Tornillo High School. We asked our Senior sponsor to be in the official class picture with us. Two of us, have gone now, so there are seven of us left. It might as be 70, as hard as it is to plan a reunion.

MTV signed on, on this day in 1981 with The Buggles "Video Killed The Radio Star." While all of my friends thought that was hilarious, I didn't laugh much. I'm laughing now, because MTV has pretty much stopped playing music, and I still am.

Every summer, Bryan Adam's song "Summer Of '69" is all over the radio. Great tune, but was that summer really great? Yes, it was. I was 13 that summer and it seemed I lived at the local swimming pool, and most of my memories of that time, revolve around that location.

Living in Amarillo, means living with changes. We change names on buildings, parks, and streets without giving it a second thought.

Most of us in the panhandle can satisfy our cravings. BBQ? Sure. Tacos? Absolutely. But, what if, you are craving something, that is no longer made?
