Beloved Amarillo Rock Climbing House Closes After Years of Fun
It’s always tough to see a local favorite close its doors in Amarillo, especially one that brought people together in such a unique way. At the end of September, ARCH (Amarillo Rock Climbing House) officially shut down, leaving a lot of Amarillo’s climbing community feeling a little lost.
A Heartbreaking Goodbye for Amarillo’s Climbing Fans
People had been going back and forth about whether it would close. In the end, that is what happened. It left a lot of people heartbroken for a place that was a one-of-a-kind location in Amarillo.
ARCH Was More Than Just a Climbing Gym
ARCH wasn’t just a place to climb; it was also a place to connect. Located inside AMP’d at Townsquare, it offered a welcoming space for both beginners learning the ropes and experienced climbers looking to challenge themselves. For years, it was the go-to indoor climbing spot in Amarillo, a place where friendships were formed, kids’ birthday parties turned into adventures, and people discovered a love for the sport without ever leaving town.
What Made ARCH So Special to Amarillo
Over time, ARCH became more than a business; it became a community. Whether you were there for a weekend climb, a fitness session, or just to cheer someone on, there was always an encouraging voice, a smile, and a sense of belonging. That’s what made it special.

Why Did ARCH Close?
The news of the closure hit hard for many regulars who spent countless hours on the walls. While the reasons for closing haven’t been detailed publicly, the impact is clear. The Amarillo fitness and recreation scene lost one of its most active and supportive hubs.
The Legacy ARCH Leaves Behind
Still, the spirit of ARCH will stick around. The people who climbed there, coached there, and cheered each other on will carry that energy into whatever comes next. For now, we say goodbye to one of Amarillo’s most adventurous hangouts; and thank them for giving us a place to reach new heights, literally and figuratively
