Amarillo Starbuck’s Attempt to Fix Major Parking Lot Problem
Amarillo has been the city of remodel as of late. There have been a ton of places that have closed just to get a much-needed facelift. One of the more recent places is the Starbucks on Georgia Street. It has been closed for a few weeks with looks of being a whole new place when back open. They were totally gutted.
They have been working on it non-stop in hopes of getting it back open soon. I mean they don't want to miss out on all of the pumpkin spice latte craze this year. The one major flaw with that location is in the parking lot.
This is not the fault of Starbucks and over the years they have tried to come up with a way to fix it. If you drive through that parking lot in Wolflin Village there are times that you can't make it through and back on the street. Why is that?
Some Starbucks customers are in such a hurry once they place their order at the drive-thru to get their coffee. Some of them end up blocking the entrance and exit to get onto Austin Street. It leaves it very congested in the area. It leaves cars backed up.
Some are trying to get to the drive-thru window to get their Starbucks. Others are just trying to get on with their day and get out of that parking lot. So when they tore out the drive-thru menu and everything I was wondering what their plans were to fix the problem.
I noticed their solution to the issue. I really hope that this works. It looks like it could if everyone just had some patience. It will be helpful if they read and obey the sign.
The powers that be at this Starbucks moved the drive-thru portion back a bit. There is more room at the menu. That room is for the person who is ordering and also for the person who is waiting.
So here is how it works. For those who need an explanation. You drive up and order. After you place your order you pull up a bit to let the person behind you order. You do not drive up to the window if someone is already there. No there is a sign telling you to wait here.
This could work if people just pay attention. It will be great to be able to get from one end of the parking lot and through to the other without being stopped by a car hung up at the Starbucks drive-thru. I promise you that you will get your coffee. You will. You don't have to block traffic to try to speed the process up.
The staff at Starbucks don't need to be bombarded with orders. So wait at that sign until you can pull up to the window. You pulling up and blocking the lane to pass through the parking lot just causes problems.
I think this is a great solution. I can't wait for Starbucks to reopen and restore my faith that the people of Amarillo can read and obey the sign.
