These 5 Breakfast Spots Are A Must Try In Amarillo
There are a lot of different ways to get reviews for restaurants in Amarillo. Many will take to something like Yelp or another review type of website. This is a great place to be able to get a feel for what a restaurant is like without a doubt.
However, those can just tell you if the place is a solid option for food. If you're looking for the best of the best, it can be a little tricky using these sites. There is another way to go about finding the best place to grab a bite to eat, and it could be the best way.
I see a lot of people take to chat rooms and sites like Reddit and post threads asking what's the best of something in the city, and many will respond to it relatively quickly. Now, when it comes to this, I recognize that it's all about the particular taste of the person commenting.
The flip side to this is seeing if there is a place that stands out by garnering multiple votes. Typically a place mentioned by many is one of two things. One, it means it truly is one of the best in the city, or two, it's because people have heard of it so they mention it.
Remember, any kind of review or recommendation is subjective to the person leaving it, but I'm a big believer that if multiple people are talking about it, then it can't possibly be that bad.
I was browsing around Reddit and came across one of these posts, and the OP was asking where the best breakfast in Amarillo is. Now, I know you read that line and immediately had a place come to mind and right out of your mouth. We all have those places. These are the five restaurants that got multiple votes for the best in the 806.
CALICO COUNTY
Garnering two votes, Calico County is an Amarillo staple. Know most for their down-home cooking and comfort-type meals, there was a time when many were worried Calico County would go away. When Paramount flooded and was closed off for a week plus, we all worried about what kind of damage was going to be found.
Thankfully, they were able to re-open their doors and everyone went rushing back for what they'd missed. With so many different breakfast items to choose from, I recommend giving the chicken & waffles a try.
YOUNGBLOOD'S CAFE
So when I first moved to Amarillo, our house was basically right next door to Youngblood's, and I swear there was never a time where the parking lot wasn't just packed. So much so that they spilled out onto the street. People were willing to wait an hour or more just to get in for breakfast.
Ironically, in the 2 1/2 years I lived next door, we never actually went in and ate. I think the constant crowd there kept us from going in. To this day though, I regret not stopping in and need to do it sooner rather than later. I can see how multiple people mentioned it considering the lines alone.
LA CAMPANA
There were a couple of Tex-Mex-type places that were mentioned as solid breakfast spots, but La Campana was the only one to pick up multiple mentions from users. If you want something other than a traditional breakfast, this seems to be the spot.
One user mentioned trying the Carne Guisada Pork, eggs over medium, and a flour tortilla. I'll be honest, that sounds like it would be pretty good any time of day.
GIRASOL
Here's one that picked up three votes from users, and it might have something to do with the fact that it offers up more than just your traditional breakfast fare. Many rave about their dishes and the spins they put on them. For example, the Santa Fe Eggs Benedict looks amazing, and I'm a huge Eggs Benedict fan.
One user on Reddit summed it up about as well as you can by saying, "Girasol is so damn good whatever she is making," so I guess that's an endorsement for literally anything on the menu.
YE OLDE PANCAKE STATION
Our winner is an Amarillo staple, the place everyone seems to think about first when it comes to breakfast, and that's the Ye Olde Pancake Station. Picking up four votes, there could be a myriad of reasons why it topped the list.
I've been to Ye Olde Pancake Station and ordered up the aforementioned Eggs Benedict, and I gotta tell ya it was really good. We went around 10 am so it wasn't SO busy in there, but a pretty solid crowd was enjoying breakfast on a random weekday at that time. Tells me they garnered the most votes here for a reason.
