City of Amarillo Trying to Make Amarillo Less Trashy
The trash in Amarillo has been a hot topic for quite some time. First, we lost a lot of our dumpsters in different areas. Those magically turned into trash cans we got to roll into the front of our homes on trash day.
Then it moved to an even bigger issue. A shortage of employees led to us losing trash service. We used to have our dumpsters emptied twice a week. After the shortage, we went to just one day a week.

With that fiasco starting in the summer the fly situation got horrible here in Amarillo. We still haven’t gone back to twice a week yet but we hear it’s getting closer.
So with all of that, the City of Amarillo is trying something new. They are trying to test out new solid waste programs.

They are seeking those of us with large items that we need to have dumped. Ok, if you have a huge couch you need to get rid of, or maybe you have a washer and dryer that just doesn’t work. Here is your chance. You will get rid of your garbage and help the city as well.
Your chance to be part of this study and get those items disposed of. This sounds like a win.
Today is the day to head to the meeting. You can still direct message the City of Amarillo to make sure you are part of this. So think about those large bulky items you need to get rid of and let the city know.
