Over the weekend I saw a post being shared all over Amarillo. It was about a missing man. A silver alert went out for Robert Spall. He has dementia so we needed to keep an eye out.

It's good to share information when something like that happens in Amarillo. The problem though is that Robert is not from Amarillo. He did not go missing from Amarillo. In fact, I did a search for Robert Spall and this post was being shared all over.

Which would be good if we were looking for him all over. If there was a chance he could be anywhere in the country. That is not what happened. These posts all claimed he was from a different area.

So the information was wrong somewhere.

Was Robert Actually Missing?

He was. Oh, and the good news is that he was actually found over the weekend. He was not from Amarillo. He was found in Georgia. So we are all glad that he was found and found safe.

Why Would Information Like This Be Shared Like This?

It doesn't make sense. Why are the locations being changed? What is the possible scam? I mean someone is changing the location. Is someone making fake profiles with fake information like this?

Is it just one person? Making all of these fake posts? Maybe. I am not quite sure of the motive. Maybe they are trying to get credibility and information being shared so at a later date they can use these profiles for a bigger scam. I am not quite sure.

What Can You Do to Stop This?

When you see a missing person or even a pet before you share it go ahead and check the information. Do a search on Facebook for the missing person's name. See if there are multiple posts about this missing person. Check the locations. We just need to be better at not spreading all the false information.

The 806's Strange & Screwed Up Crimes Of 2021.....So Far

It's 2021 and folks are making up for staying indoors and following the law all throughout 2020. This isn't always a good thing, though. There have been quite a few odd, wacky, and outright grotesque crimes committed in the Texas Panhandle this year so far.

From Friona to Lubbock, there's plenty of bad behavior on display throughout the 806 in 2021.

Take a look at what these hellions have gotten themselves into:
