Remembering Madison: Join Amarillo’s MTK Run This July
Driving around Amarillo, there are certain songs that come on the radio that automatically take your mind somewhere else. You can't help it that a melody brings back a memory. It's true. One song that does that for me every time I hear it, and I hear it a lot, trust me, is Journey's "Don't Stop Believin".
That song was a favorite of Amarillo's Madison Taylor Knebusch. She is the namesake for the MTK Foundation here in Amarillo. I am sure you have heard a lot about their mission. Madison lost her battle with cancer at the young age of sixteen.
What Is the MTK Foundation?
Since then, to help other families and cancer patients, her parents, Shannon and Levi, created the MTK Foundation in her memory. Of course, a foundation like this needs money to keep the research going and to help the families of Amarillo.
Details About the 5K/10K Event
Events are a great way to help supplement some of those funds. The MTK 5K/10K Run and Walk is coming up. Now is the time to register. If you are a serious runner, this is a great way to get some run time in. If you want to just walk or go at your own pace, that is great too. This event is for everyone.

There are also bounce houses for the kids, and since this happens out at Austin Park, there is a built-in playground for the kids, too. There is no reason not to get up early on July 19th and head out to the park. It's a great community event.
I know because I have been out there almost every single year playing the music and making sure that Journey's "Don't Stop Believin" is cued up and ready to go to start off the race.
How You Can Participate or Donate
You can get registered for this year's run/walk HERE. You can even donate as a sleepwalker and stay home in your pajamas, all comfy in your bed. Just make sure you find a way to help.
