Another Local Amarillo Restaurant Steps Up to Feed Families During Shutdown
November is a month for giving thanks in Amarillo. Every day, we see posts on social media about what people are thankful for. It's great to see so much appreciation in the area.
Amarillo’s Season of Gratitude
It's hard to be thankful, though, if you are one of the many families affected by the government shutdown. There are paychecks that are not happening right now. There are SNAP cards that are not being loaded.
Families Facing Real Challenges
When you are not sure where your next meal is coming from it is hard to be thankful. What a lot of us are thankful for are those local places that are jumping in to help. Even before the November 1st deadline, restaurants have been volunteering to help.
That is not slowing down. It is great to see. If you are a family struggling right now, there is no shame in taking the help that is out there. Your family has to eat, and that should be the main concern.
Pescaraz Steps Up to Help
Luckily, another restaurant is giving back on Friday. Pescaraz Italian Restaurant wants to help feed as many people as they can. According to their social media post:
Friday, November 7th, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm, we will be giving out 250 spaghetti and breadstick meals at the restaurant. If you are in need of a warm meal or know someone, please let them know. No questions asked. My Employees and I will be honored to give out these meals.
It's great to see the local businesses that are willing to help. There have been some that we haven't even been able to mention because they just jumped in and gave out food with little to no warning. Which is something Shi Lee's did recently. They announced having food on their property and gave it all away in a matter of hours.

Amarillo Businesses Keep Giving Back
So kudos to our local businesses like Big Jim's Pizza Co., K-N Root Beer, Eightytwenty, Malcolm's Ice Cream & Food, Shi Lee's Barbecue & Soul Food, and now Pescaraz Italian Restaurant. We have some great people who always just want to help and give us all something to be thankful for.
