Time is Running Out Amarillo to Enjoy a Summer Cool Down
Here we are with the cold hard facts about Amarillo and the surrounding area. The summer of 2024 is officially coming to an end. You may have had a suspicion that this was the case with all of the back-to-school talk. I know it is hard to admit. All good things do have to come to an end.
We have to get back to the normal day-to-day grind. We have to get the kids back to school. We have to get them back to learning. We have to get the next season of sports to start. Yeah, we do love the fall nights at a football game. Which means then we have to say goodbye to the summer nights at the pool.
The pools are going to be the first to say goodbye for the year. The city pools close on August 5th. Just a heads up, Thompson Park Pool will stay open a little longer. They will officially close on September 1st so not all hope is lost.
How About Amarillo's Splash Pads?
We have started to keep an impromptu travel towel in the trunk of the car. We learned that the hard way heading to Memorial Park last summer. My granddaughter was all about running in and enjoying the splash pad. We didn't have a towel then so I rushed home while she played with her mom. Now we keep one at all times.
Which was good. It came in handy last weekend when they were in town. My daughter asked if the splash pads were still open. They are for now. They will be closing soon. Not as early as the city pools but there is an expiration date on them as well.
The splash pads in Amarillo will all dry up after September 1st. So get out and enjoy the last days of summer. Get out and splash around. Just make sure you keep an impromptu towel in your car as well.
