The one thing I wish I had known about moving to the Amarillo area in the late eighties was something I took for granted living in Chicago. I didn't know that I was going to have to say goodbye to some of my favorite foods. Food that you don't know what you had until it is gone.

One of those was Chicago pizza. I had no idea it would be years before I got some of that deliciousness again. It was not readily available here. I could not go online and order it to be shipped here like I can now. It really was a long time without it.

Now in this great world that we live in there are options. My mom would have some shipped for special occasions from Lou Malnati's in Chicago. There is even now a website where you can order other Chicago favorites. Check it out HERE.

Imagine my surprise when I was looking for a story idea and doing a search for a pizza here in Amarillo. The one I was looking for was not available but that is ok I found something a bit more important to me.

Did You Know You Can Get Chicago Pizza in The Freezer Section?

I had no idea that Chicago pizza could be found on the shelves of the freezer section here in Amarillo. This was something I had to check out. So I went to the neighborhood Walmart on 58th and sure enough, I found it. Pizzeria Uno, another well-known Chicago Pizza place has made this a reality.

There were so many options: cheese, classic sausage, prima pepperoni, and ultimate meat. I left with one cheese pizza and a prima pepperoni pizza. It is now sitting in my freezer for my next pizza night. I can't wait.

From someone who could not get a taste from home for years can now find it at most grocery stores. I love how the world has changed over the years.
