Amarillo Playoff Week Two: Times, Locations, and Matchups
Last week, the Texas High School football playoffs got underway, and Amarillo & Canyon were represented extremely well, placing six teams inside the playoffs. There were some absolute shootouts, blowouts, and a couple of closer games.
At the end of week one, five of the six local teams found themselves moving on to round two, while one lost an absolute heartbreaker. It pretty much summed up the season for that particular school.

Week One Recap
Let's start with the team that fell just short of the second round. Amarillo High lost a shootout against El Dorado, falling 77-76. It's a matchup they didn't think they'd find themselves in after the season they were having, but the ineligible player issue put them in a tough spot. Regardless, it was a heck of a game and a great season for the Sandies.
Other scores included Canyon knocking off Ysleta 66-13, West Plains shutting out Irvin 85-0, Randall blanking Austin 49-0, Tascosa torching Parkland 84-13, and Palo Duro easily dispatching Hanks 56-7.
