Trying to get around town when you don't have a car or driver's license can not only be tough, but expensive. I mean, taking a rideshare or cab everywhere isn't precisely fiscally responsible unless you're loaded with a fat bank account.

I think it's safe to say the majority of us don't fall in the fat bank account category, so we're looking for other ways to navigate Amarillo.

Amarillo City Transit is trying to make things a bit easier for some of us, and I'm here for it all.

During the pandemic, they were able to offer up free rides to everyone. The funds they were using in order to make that possible however have dried up, and they've gone back to charging for those rides.

Now the most cost-saving move you can make is to buy a monthly pass. It gives you unlimited rides and ensures you'll never have to search your couch cushions for change in order to catch your ride. That monthly pass will run you $30, so essentially $1 per day. That's the cost of a single ride, so it's well worth the cost.

But now Amarillo City Transit is making it even MORE affordable for those that qualify but cutting that monthly ride pass cost in half to just $15.

If you're a senior over the age of 65, a student from K-12, Medicare cardholder, a rider with a disability, or someone with an ACT Reduced Fare ID (RFID) Card, you qualify for the reduced monthly pass.

All you have to do is head over to the main office at Amarillo City Hall to get yourself hooked up with the pass.
