Hot seems to be an understatement.

Amarillo broke a very big weather record, for the longest span ever of consecutive amounts of days with temperatures in the triple-digits.  From August 16th - August 25th Amarillo saw highs in the 100's.  That is 10 straight days of heat.  Most of those days reached at least 104 degrees.

According to KAMR Chief Meteorologist John Harris, August has given us at least 20 days of 100-degree temperatures.

After breaking another hot day record on Sunday, August 25th, the rain moved in cooling it off.  Thank goodness!   Luckily, that rain gave us a reprieve from the triple digits.

Is Relief Coming?

According to the National Weather Service, we can expect temps to be in the mid-90s with temps finally back into the 80s by the time the Labor Day weekend hits.

Summer is expected to be hot, but none of us in Amarillo expected it to be that hot.  August most definitely has given us a run for our money.  Good grief, imagine what the electric bills are going to be for August. Most ACs in this city didn't stop constantly running until the middle of the night.

Here's to all the people who had to work outside in this stupid crazy heat.  Not sure how this was accomplished, but I'm sure that was some of the most miserable days in your work history.

Thankfully fall will be here soon and thoughts of these horribly hot days will be behind us.  Now we just have to worry about winter.
