More Changes Coming to This Popular Amarillo BBQ Spot—Here’s What to Know
Welcome to a new year in Amarillo. Mondays are not the greatest most people dread Mondays. Unfortunately, we have another reason for you to not like Mondays.
BBQ is a great staple in the state of Texas and in Amarillo. Amarillo has some great BBQ and one of those places to get BBQ is
Crazy Larry's BBQ
Crazy Larry's BBQ has been a staple in Amarillo for decades. They just celebrated 26 years in Amarillo on January 4th. However, it hasn't been without its challenges.
Back in 2020, the pandemic disrupted many businesses, particularly local businesses and restaurants. Most struggled to make ends meet, including Crazy Larry's BBQ. They were finally able to open their doors to patrons again in June 2020, after operating only a drive-thru service during the pandemic. By the end of 2021, they faced difficulties finding reliable staff to work the night shift and adjusted their hours to Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., closing down dinner service. Then in March 2024, a fire broke out in the restaurant and shut it down until October 3, 2024.
What is the Best Thing About Crazy Larry's?
Crazy Larry's BBQ is most famous for its Frito pie. It is delicious and HUGE! It consists of Fritos, brisket, beans, sauce, and cheese. It's the perfect combination of heaven. For most people, if you order the full size, you'll eat on it for days. The 1/4 size is usually enough for a meal, but you'll probably have leftovers.
Another change to Crazy Larry's BBQ is starting today.
The restaurant will no longer be open on Mondays.
That means if you are having a bad Monday and all you want is a Frito pie, you will not be able to get your Crazy Larry's Frito pie until Tuesday.
Yes, we know that it stinks that they are closing on Mondays, but they are still open and keeping us filled with great BBQ and Frito pies!
The new hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10:30 am - 3 pm.
