Hooters Closes Amarillo Restaurant, Workers Notified by Text

The restaurant game is good in Amarillo. We seem to have more restaurants per capita than other cities of similar size. We have I-40 running through our city, which is ideal for restaurant chains. Unfortunately, certain restaurant chains haven't been doing well and are closing down restaurants.

Another restaurant chain has officially closed in Amarillo.

Hooters Has Closed in Amarillo

Not too long ago, Hooters filed for bankruptcy and announced multiple closures. Unfortunately, it seems that Amarillo has been added to the list of those closures. On Monday, June 23, 2025, social media started blowing up with posts from employees and their families saying that Hooters had closed.

How Hooters Employees Found Out About the Amarillo Closure

The employees were contacted by text that the restaurant had closed its doors.

We called the restaurant to confirm the closing and were met with a message that it was permanently closed.

Hooters recently closed down 3 Texas locations abruptly, including Grapevine, Houston, and San Marcos. Now, a few weeks later, Amarillo no longer has a Hooters.

The Hooters in Amarillo used to have their own personal Facebook page, but it appears that it has been removed. Hooters also shows that there is an Amarillo location, but that will probably change soon. Although Google isn't telling us it is permanently closed, it is safe to say that it will soon be updated, if it hasn't already.

Here we are with another closed restaurant. That was the speculation. I saw someone asking about it on social media, so I decided to drive by.
