This is supposed to be the season of hope and love and celebration.  However, it is no celebration when a crime is committed and we have seen way too many crimes in Amarillo lately.

Someone had come across human remains.  The human remains were found in an isolated area away from normal everyday traffic.  This area is mainly used by utility contractors.  When the remains were discovered the authorities were immediately called.

At this time the Potter County Sheriff's Deputies are unable to positively identify the deceased.  They are taking the proper steps to identify the remains.  The Potter County Sheriff's office does not suspect foul play at this time.  Once the remains are identified and the next of kin is notified more information will be released.

Unfortunately, this could make the unofficial murder count in Amarillo rise to over 30 in 2022.  This in my opinion is unacceptable, and it makes me sad for our city.

One could only speculate who the deceased might be, however, without more information that might be hard to do.  Many people have gone missing in Amarillo over the years and families are yearning for answers.

I do know this much.  The deceased in this situation did not deserve to be dumped out in the middle of nowhere, no matter who or what occurred.  Let's just hope that truth and justice will come to those who deserve it.
