Why WTAMU’s Pride and Prejudice Feels Modern
Now, what if someone took that classic and put a fun spin on it? Think Jane Austen meets Bridgerton. The West Texas A&M Theatre Department isn't playing it safe this year. They are remixing this classic tale of love and sorrow and bringing a more modern twist.

How This Jane Austen Adaptation Breaks Tradition
Kate Hamill, a brilliant playwright, is refreshing Jane Austen's novel and bringing a humorous tone. Even with the modern twist, the story is still set in the Regency period.
A New Take on Elizabeth Bennet for Today’s Audiences
Director Callie Hisek says that she has been in love with Kate Hamill's script for 10 years. Junior theatre major Kenzie Cohan, who plays Elizabeth Bennet, is looking forward to playing the character with more annoyance. Instead of giggling, Elizabeth can roll her eyes.
Rethinking Mr. Darcy in a Modern Stage Production
The show's Mr. Darcy, Kyle Roberson, a senior theatre major, realizes that the character isn't the jerk he's made out to be, but just honest.
When and Where to See Pride and Prejudice at WTAMU
This modernized performance of Pride and Prejudice will take place February 6 - 7 and February 12-14 at 7:30 pm. Sunday performances include February 8 and 15 at 2:30 pm. The performance will take place in the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex in the Happy State Bank Studio Theatre on the WT campus.
