Update: Severe Storms In The Forecast For Monday

Update 4/29/19 11:45am: The slight risk area for severe weather has shifted south out of the Panhandle. While there are still thunderstorms in the forecast, the greatest risk of severe weather will be in the far southeastern Panhandle.

Severe weather season is in full swing for the Texas Panhandle and that means another round of storms could be on our doorstep for Monday, April 29th. Now is the time to make sure you are weather aware and have your plans for storm safety mapped out.

A cold front will work its way across the area Monday and stall out, triggering showers and storms throughout the Lubbock area. The storms will then work through the afternoon and evening into the southeast Panhandles. Conditions will continue to ripen Monday night allowing for a better chance of precipitation across a majority of the Panhandles. The setup will be right to produce storms which could become strong, and in some cases, severe. The risk of storms will remain in the forecast through Tuesday morning. Weather threats will include hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.
