It's almost time for baseball to be back in Amarillo. After the season was canceled last year, I know there are a lot of people ready to get back in the stands at Hodgetown.

Today, the Sod Poodles put out a press release detailing their calendar of special events for the upcoming season. And it looks like there will be a lot to look forward to at Hodgetown.

One of the major things they point out is that there will be a grand total of 24 fireworks shows this year. That includes the Friday night shows, special theme nights, opening night, and Independence Day.

Speaking of theme nights, this year there will be several. Bark in the Park returns this year. There's Gold Sox Night. World of Wizards Night, Luau Night, Christmas in July, Princess Night, and SkyFest all feature fireworks shows.

There's also Diamond Dig and What's a Sod Poodle Night.

Pointy Boots De Amarillo will be making a return in the 2021 season. There will be a big debut on the night of Friday, May 21.

Also this year, there will be a total of 15 fan giveaway nights. These are the nights where you'll have the opportunity to get some limited memorabilia. Replica Championship rings, bobbleheads, and fanny packs are just a few of the items they'll be giving away this year.

When it comes to the giveaways, this year they have increased your chances of getting the giveaway items. This year there will be 1,500 items for each giveaway.

The Sod Poodles host their home-opener on Tuesday, May 18. For more info check out the Sod Poodles website here.

Unbelievably, these special events are just a fraction of the many good things coming out of Hodgetown. You wouldn't believe the full extent of what this place has going on.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
