80's

It's funny. The older I get the more nostalgic I become. Growing up in the 70's & 80's a lot of things have come and gone. This is in no way a complete list. I mean who could forget the BetaMax or the original Pong. But, here are 9 things that the kiddos of today have never known and probably never will.

Children of the '80s and '90s pretty much learned everything they need to know from TV. (It was basically like a third parent.) Besides "very special" sitcom episodes, one of the major ways we learned about how to say no to drugs and avoid "stranger danger" was from public service announcements.

The British Group T'Pau formed in 1986 and featured lead vocals from Carol Decker. T'Pau had much more success in the U.K. then in the United States. Their Debut album spawned five hit singles across the pond, but here in the states they were 'one and done.'

When one thinks of ‘Say Anything...,’ John Cusak, holding a boom box above his head and serenading Ione Skye with the Peter Gabriel song ’In Your Eyes' likely comes to mind. But beyond that iconic scene, Cameron Crowe’s directorial debut is perhaps one of the most well-crafted and nuanced teen romantic comedies of all time.

Some 30 years after Corey Hart exploded onto the pop music scene with his iconic debut single 'Sunglasses at Night,' the song has been reborn in a unique and fresh way as 'Night Visions (Sunglasses).' But it's hardly V 2.0.

Lou Scheimer, the founder of animation studio Filmation and the producer of Saturday morning cartoon classics such as 'Fat Albert,' 'He-Man,' and 'Superman,' has passed away at the age of 84. Scheimer leaves behind a legacy of exciting Saturday morning entertainment for children that's been passed on and revitalized from generation to generation.

If you are a child of the 80s (I'm more of the 90s, but had an older brother who made me jam every new 80s album) then I think you'll be able to appreciate these cover songs. One of my favorite things to do is to scour YouTube and find people doing awesome covers of some of my favorite songs.

Rick and I were talking this morning about random nonsense.  That random nonsense usually turn into a idea.  This morning we were talking about Hall and Oates and I said, "talk about a mustache."  And now we have this post.  The Best Mustaches of the 80's

Here's something for all you painfully nostalgic types out there. It's video footage of John Cusack awkwardly shuffling onstage with a boombox and handing it to Peter Gabriel before he performed "In Your Eyes" in concert over the weekend.

We have all belted these songs out at the top of our lungs.  The promise of a huge career was behind each and ever song, but unfortunately these were the only hits of these bands.  It is National One-Hit Wonder Day.  Enjoy these one-hit wonders.

If you grew up in the 80's then you probably watched the "Facts of Life" on a weekly basis and then watched the re-runs and probably still do today.  The "Facts of Life" debuted back on this day in 1979.  It was a spin-off from "Different Strokes".

Remember back in the late 80's, early 90s a TV show about an alien coming to Earth and living with a family.  That alien was ALF (Alien Life Form) and it was my favorite TV show at the time.
