Amarillo has said hello and goodbye to a lot of places to eat recently. I am excited when we get new places opening up their doors to try. It's tough to keep a restaurant going. Especially with the challenges that have faced us with finding employees.
Just when we really were hoping to be putting the term Covid behind us this happens. OK I know I am living in a dream world and that word would not be leaving our vocabulary any time soon. I know this word is sticking around. We can hope anyway but here we are with another closing due to Covid.
One of the best things about growing up in Canyon and going to school there were some of the cool things they had to offer. Canyon does have some coolness factors. I mean there is only a short drive to Palo Duro Canyon.
A lot of businesses are being hurt right now. They can't find a lot of people that want to work. This has happened all over the country. This is not just an Amarillo or Canyon problem. It is one that needs to be fixed and fast before we lose more places on a more permanent basis.
While my daughter was in town the past few days we were talking about restaurants in Amarillo. One that she really loved going to was Mr. Fish. If you have never been there the sad part is you can't anymore. The beloved restaurant on Sixth Street recently closed down.
