The time is here. Everyone is getting sick. You don't have time to get sick. Who does? Here are some ways you can keep it away.

So I am the first to say I have not gone to get my flu shot yet. I mean my work even pays for it. So why haven't I? Why haven't you?

When I walked back into the building on Tuesday after vacation. I walked into a petri dish. People sneezing, coughing, hacking and who knows what else.

I don't know about you, but every where I turn, someone has the flu, or someone has strep.  It is everywhere, I mean everywhere!.   Sickness left and right.  So how can you stay well when everyone else is sick.

We are finally to that part of the year where sickness seems to be around every corner and yes flu season is upon us.  So the City of Amarillo's Public Health Department wants to remind you to get your flu shot.

The flu is on the rampage this season.  Both my son and I came down with the flu over the holidays.  It isn't fun so if you have yet to get your flu shot,  here are some places in Amarillo where you can go to get the flu shot.

My journey with the flu began on the last day of 2012.  I had just had a birthday lunch with my mom because it was her birthday.  After lunch, I picked up my cousin (from NYC) who was finishing up her yearly visit with my grandmother and we made our way back to Amarillo.

Flu season is upon us, and the best way to avoid the chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, headache, coughing, weakness/fatigue and general discomfort of influenza is to get a flu shot. The vaccine, which greatly reduces your chance of catching the bug, is available at most drug stores.

With flu season upon us, 46 percent of Americans have received a flu shot, whereas 47 percent said they have not and will not.

Flu vaccines have always been dreaded by those who hate shots, but this year a company called PharmaJet introduced a device that uses “a high-pressure steam of liquid to pierce the skin and deliver the vaccine.” The needle-phobics rejoiced. But now the FDA is saying, Not so fast.
