Now that the year has been going for over a month, I wonder where the state of resolutions are now for the majority of people.  I usually don’t make them.  I guess I am too lazy, but I also don’t see the New Year as much different as the last year.  Again, I am lazy on this issue, but this year, or last year, I decided to do it.  I was going to make a resolution.

I am a writer. And today I have writer's block. As you might imagine, that happens from time to time. I've learned over the years, when my brain freezes up and I can't think of an idea or a topic or even a simple line to get me going, it's best to just start writing what I'm thinking... even if it's not what I intended, or even wanted, to write about.

With Valentine’s Day approaching,  I always think in my mind what I would like to happen.  I think most women do.  We have been trained by our moms, friends, V Day cards, magazines, commercials and movies to all think what real romance is.

Every new parent has an idealistic view of what their child will one day become: a doctor, a lawyer, a star athlete.  We picture our children growing up and having careers, getting married, and having children of their own. The day that I sat in the pediatric specialist’s office with my son (then 2 ½) and heard the word Autism, all of those goals and dreams for my child flooded my mind.

I had a perfect little life, great husband, a wonderful daughter who played in orchestra and was really great at it, a smart, wonderful son, nice apt, nice car, great job.  Yeah it was a perfect life for me.  And then one day I received a phone call.
