Today I was reminded of how short life can be, and how in the blink of an eye, life can change.  I received a phone call earlier this afternoon that a woman who was very influential in my life had passed away.

Apparently, a part-time teacher's aide at an elementary school in in New Hanover, Pennsylvania decided to give the students treats at recess.  The treats were made for dogs.

You know I do not get riled up about many things but this video really ticked me off to the point I had tears running down my checks.  A 5th grade Michigan teacher by the name of Nicole McVey decided it was appropriate to record a video of one of her  students who as Asperger's Syndrome after he got stuck in a chair.  Not only that, the principal of the school decided to join in teasing the boy. 

Back in 2004 Morgan Spurlock surprised us with his documentary Super Size Me about eating only McDonald's and the effect it can have on your body.   Well that was 10 years ago and now there is a new story about eating only McDonald's and what it can do to you.

A 12-year old student, Reginald Wells, at Willie Ray Smith Middle School in Beaumont, Texas.  Claims that his teacher punched him in the shoulder after he made a joke about the teacher's favorite football team.  Wells, then pushed the teacher back and then claimed the teacher punched him and he blacked out.

You know the saying, "no good deed goes unpunished," well that saying fits right in with this story.  A teacher at the Little Temples Learning Center in Florida was fired after she left her room to put out a fire that started in the kitchen.

Keeping students and teachers safe has become a hot button issue in the US since the Sandy Hook shooting in December.

Chicago is in the midst of teacher strike that is affecting roughly 350,000 students. There is some debate over whether the strike is permitted under Illinois law since the unions' list of grievances extends beyond pay and benefits -- which are the only issues they have the legal right to strike over.

Final exams are never fun, but for one university class in Russia, their test was particularly bad. Not only did the instructor treat the class as her own personal happy hour, she also made it an impromptu sleepover.

A North Rowan High School teacher is taking fire for telling a student that he could be arrested for being critical of President Obama.

Matt Damon and his mother, Dr. Nancy Carlsson-Paige, a professor of education, have both turned down the NEA's Friend Of Education Award. The decision came about after they discovered that the president of the NEA co-authored an opinion article for USA Today.

Back in the day, high school classes would only show “how a bill becomes a law” videos, but Rhett Felix, a teacher at Eureka High school outside of Peoria, Illinois, tried to spice things up a bit. He used clips from Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart‘ to educate his students about current events, but the local school board placed him on paid suspension once word got out.
