The malls in Amarillo have changed over the years. I say malls because if you haven't lived here long we did use to have two. We had Westgate Mall and Western Plaza. Over the years we have seen stores come and go.

It's one of those things that as a new mom you look forward to every year. I am talking about taking your child to see Santa Clause. We can't wait to see those precious smiles as Santa asks what they want for Christmas.

We all have families. Whether they are your blood family or families you acquired over the years. These are the people you turn to when you need someone to talk to. These are the people you spend your holidays with every year.

I think it's hard enough when we are really craving Chick-fil-A and then you realize that it is Sunday--they're closed and now your dreams are squashed. It happens a lot for me. So when I saw this news I wanted to make sure you were not blindsided.

So of course during the pandemic we did learn that washing our hands is very important to stopping the spread. We have learned all types of tips. We know we need to wash our hands for at least 20 seconds. We also know that hand sanitizer is good but not as good as actually using soap and water.

We are learning a lot through this pandemic. We are learning how to wear a mask. We learned how to wash our hands correctly. We have learned how to use Zoom. Well most of us have.

This summer has been pretty warm. These past few days have been downright hot. We have been hitting 100. It is not going to break anytime soon. So we need to find a way to break this heat.

GNC announced Tuesday that it was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and was planning to close several stores.

Tuesday May 26 Governor Abbott announced that the state is allowing more businesses to reopen.
