March 25th, The Monkees ended their TV show,  Michael moonwalked, The Outsiders was released, Prince won and Oscar.

1955 - "Blackboard Jungle" was released  starring SIDNEY POITIER as an angry urban youth who helps a middle-aged white teacher fight a gang of ruffians!

It was banned from many theaters for its violent content.  "Rock Around the Clock" opens and closes the film, and THAT also helped get it banned because rock was still too controversial back then!

1960 - ROY ORBISON recorded the amazing and underrated smash "Only The Lonely".

1968 - Tragedy struck when the 58th and FINAL episode of "The Monkees" aired.

1983 - During Motown's 25th Anniversary TV special, MICHAEL JACKSON astounded audiences by performing a new dance move  the MOONWALK!

1983 - "The Outsiders" was released, starring such unknowns as TOM CRUISE, ROB LOWE, MATT DILLON, PATRICK SWAYZE, EMILIO ESTEVEZ, DIANE LANE, RALPH MACCHIO, AND C. THOMAS HOWELL AS PONYBOY!

1985 - PRINCE won the Oscar for Best Original Score with the "Purple Rain" soundtrack.  STEVIE WONDER won the Best Song Oscar for "I Just Called To Say I Love You", from the film, "The Woman In Red"

1990 - TOMMY LEE was arrested for exposing his  buttocks  during a Georgia concert.

1992 - COSMONAUT SERGEI KRIKALEV returned to Earth after 10 months on what was only supposed to be a five-month space mission.  He was forced to double his time in space when the Soviet Union CEASED TO EXIST in his absence.

1994 - "D2:  The Mighty Ducks" was released starring  JOSHUA JACKSON!

1995 - The first wiki, WikiWikiWeb, went online.

1995 - A "fully rehabilitated" MIKE TYSON was released from prison after serving three years for the rape of beauty pageant contestant DESIREE WASHINGTON.

1996 - "Braveheart" won the Best Picture Oscar and MEL GIBSON won Best Director.

2001 - JULIA ROBERTS won the Best Actress Oscar for "Erin Brockovich" . . . and Hollywood He-Whore RUSSELL CROWE won for "Gladiator".

2005 - PAUL HESTER, the drummer for CROWDED HOUSE, killed himself.

2006 - Country music legend BUCK OWENS died at his home from an apparent heart attack.  He was 76 years old.
