Buchanan Underpass Repair To Last Up To 60 More Days

The Buchanan Street underpass, in case you have somehow not noticed, has been closed for some time. Fortunately, it looks like that time will come to an end sooner rather than later. The City has released an update, and progress is being made.

Expect it to last up to about 60 more days.

Why Is The Buchanan Street Underpass In Amarillo Closed?

According to an update that was issued on social media by the City of Amarillo, the underpass was originally closed due to a water main break. According to the info in the update, that was back in July.

Interestingly enough, it's noted in the update that TxDOT actually owns the road. The City of Amarillo is "handling maintenance through an agreement."

 There's Good News And Bad News

The good news is that the work is being done, which means eventually it will be finished. The bad news, depending on how you feel about things, is regarding just how long it will take.

The work being done on the underpass between N.E. Second and N.W. First is estimated to take somewhere between 45 and 60 days. Worst case scenario, it takes two more months.

Of course, that all hinges on whether or not the Texas panhandle weather is willing to play nice enough to allow work to continue without any delays. Fingers crossed.

Personally, I don't like getting wrapped up in the "glass half full or half empty" debate. I prefer to take a drink, if you know what I mean. I'm just glad to see work being done.

As "they" like to say when it comes to road work, it will be so nice once it's finished.
