Center City Brings a Chess Challenge to Amarillo
If you love playing chess and would love to take part in a competition, then you definitely want to take part in the Center City Chess Challenge.
Center City of Amarillo is bringing this one of a kind event to the city. Here's how the chess challenge works.
Alex Onischuk, a Grandmaster of chess, who is also the head coach of the Texas Tech Chess team will be playing 30 different players at once. He is the 2006 US Chess Champion and also considered the 5th best chess player in the country.
There will be a cash prize for anyone who can beat the Grandmaster. If more than one person beats him then the cash prize will be split among the winners.
What: Center City Chess Challenge
When: Saturday, February 20th
Where: 1000 S. Tyler, Firestone Building
Registration will be on site and will start at 9:30a
Challenge Play will start at 10am
Cost: $10 to participate.
The event is open to the public. If you don't play chess you can still stop by and watch.
The event benefits Center City of Amarillo and the Tascosa Belles.
