Those rumors about an impending 'Friends' reunion coming to NBC in 2014? They could not be more wrong. They could try, but they would not be successful.

The chatter began earlier this week, with talk of a reunion show and, possibly, a whole new season of the beloved '90s staple. The graphic below -- which looks official but is not -- even began circulating online:

But alas. Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, Monica, Ross and Chandler are never ever getting back together. Like, ever.

'Friends' co-creator Marta Kauffman dispelled the rumors, telling E! News, "I'm going to clear this up -- it's not happening!"

She elaborated that the series was about the time in life when friends are your family, "and once you have a family, there’s no need anymore.”

The cast has had several "mini-reunions" as of late, though. Both Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer have appeared on Lisa Kudrow's show 'Web Therapy' (Matt LeBlanc is set to do so as well), Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston have guested on Cox's 'Cougar Town,' and Cox made an appearance on Matthew Perry's 'Go On.'

Last year LeBlanc told the Huffington Post that he didn't want to see an "old" version of his character, Joey. Matt's only 45, but whatever. He's getting his wish.

Perhaps it's best to just let sleeping smelly cats lie.
