‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2′ Featuring Nova? Marvel Says It’s a Possibility
During an interview with our own Mike Ryan, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who also producers the films in the MCU, revealed that Nova/Richard Rider was originally part of an earlier draft of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' before getting cut. Does this mean we'll see the character pop up in future sequels of James Gunn's space opera? According to Feige, it's a strong possibility, but what needs to happen beforehand?
Speaking with a small group of press during Comic-Con 2014, Feige stated, in response to whether we might see solo films based around other 'Guardians' characters, like Nova:
I think, you know, if 'Guardians' works the way we certainly hope it works, that would probably be the franchise to meet a lot of those people, that would be our entrance into numerous other cosmic folk. If we spin any of those out into individual movies, that's a question for down the line, but I think we would see a lot of those characters in a future 'Guardians' movie.
Whether that means 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' or not still remains to be seen, but the fact that the character was cut from an original story treatment seems like we haven't heard the last of this guy.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' hits theaters August 1.
