How Do You Handle A Stinky Co-Worker?

We have all been there at some point in our life.  We have worked around a person, who, stinks.  It doesn't matter how many hints you drop, they don't seem to catch on.  So what do you do in this situation?

Apparently this is a common occurrence in the work place and HR directors deal with this more than you would think.

Do you send an anonymous note?  Do you do something more drastic and leave deodorant on their desk?  Do you pull them to the side and have a talk with them? Do you think this person knows that they stink?
