OK, I have consumed the occasional Mountain Dew.  However, after learning about this I don't think I will touch it again.  First, it contains brominated vegetable oil, you can find that in flame retardant.  Second, apparently it can disintegrate a mouse.  YUM!  How about a case of the stuff.

A  man in Illinois, named Ronald Dahl filed a lawsuit against the company claiming he found a mouse in his can of Mountain Dew.

The Smoking Gun has a copy of the court documents that PepsiCo filed.  It contains the testimony from veterinarian Lawrence McGill stating that a mouse would dissolve in the liquid.

According to McGill, if a mouse is submerged in Mountain Dew between four and seven days, the rodent “will have no calcium in its bones and bony structures.” During those days of soft drink immersion, “the mouse’s abdominal structure will rupture.” Additionally, “its cranial cavity (head) is also likely to rupture within that time period,” McGill noted.

After 30 days exposure to Mountain Dew, “all of the mouse’s structures” would have disintegrated to the point that it would not be recognizable. In fact, “the mouse will have been transformed into a ‘jelly-like’ substance.” The only part of the rodent that could possibly survive, added McGill, was “a portion of the tail.”

I understand that the company does not want to shell out  millions of dollars to someone who claims they found a dead mouse in their soft drink, but really to release information stating that your product can dissolve a mouse, that is bad publicity.

I, personally, will not touch a Mountain Dew again.  If this liquid can dissolve a mouse just imagine what it can do to the inside of your body.
